Union Code of Conduct

* I will not criticize any union colleague except to the individual directly.

* If any union colleague is being criticized in my presence, I will confront the criticism and ask that it stop.

* I will not participate in any conversations with management that criticize, or negativity speculate about any union colleague.

* I will settle my differences with colleagues within the union.

* I will engage in debate, offer others every opportunity for debate and respect the minority viewpoints, but I will observe and support the majority mandate of the union.

The Bellflower Teachers Association is a labor union. We are a local chapter of the 335,000 - member CTA (California Teacher's Association), which is an affiliate of the 2.8 million - member NEA (National Education Association).

...We are the Bellflower Teachers Association (BTA); 650 Teachers and Educational Professionals strong. We are united as educators and professionals.

...BTA believes:

A free, quality public education is a right for all children. There is an essential connection between our members and students, and therefore, a quality working environment for members equals a quality learning environment for students. BTA members are strong advocates for students, and work tirelessly on behalf of students. BTA members deserve to be respected and treated as the professionals they are.

The National Education Association (NEA) is our national teachers union. Every year there is a Representative Assembly (RA) where close to 10,000 teachers attend. At this meeting, Robert's Rules of Order are followed as delegates create policy and framework for our NEA.
